Simple versus exponential averages on a daily chart
The choice is not fashion. It is how much weight you want yesterday to carry when you describe today’s slope.
A moving-average cross describes what already happened
The golden cross is a photograph of two lines after price has already travelled. Treat it as history unless your rules say otherwise.
Period choice when you switch from daily to hourly
Copying a 50-period daily rule onto an hourly chart is not translation. It is a different window onto a different kind of noise.
What to practise when the average goes flat
A flat average is not a broken tool. It is the chart telling you the window you chose no longer has a slope worth following.
