What to practise when the average goes flat
Trend-following with averages fails most often in months when price walks sideways. The honest response is a stand-aside rule, not a tighter period until the line wiggles again.
We mark “flat” as a visual width: if the average’s value barely changes across a block of bars, the system is off. Students practise this on printed ranging charts until the mark is boring. Boring is the point. You should not need a story to stay out.
Weekend Average Drills spend a full hour on this single skill. It saves more tuition in avoided chop than any new indicator would.
